Sheow Tong is an experienced Art and Design educator with an extensive track record in his field of expertise. He has taught in both primary and secondary schools in Art and Design and he is currently lecturing at Temasek Polytechnic (its Design School) and First Media Design School on part-time and consultation bases.

He is the Director and Chief Trainer of Composite Art & Design which runs Trigger Creations - a series of Art workshops for students and teachers from MOE.

Presently, he is also the Artist-in-school for Park View Primary School as supported by National Arts Council (NAC).

As a practicing Artist, he has exhibited his work since 2003. His latest group exhibition – Sweetalicious was at Sunjin galleries in Dec 2008.

He holds a Master in Fine Arts with LaSalle College of the Arts and a Postgrad. Dip. in Education with NIE/NTU.

Pop Art - A Contemporary Creation

Bishan Park Secondary School

In this workshop, students are exposed to the contextual background, style and characteristics of Pop Art.

Both international and local Pop Art contexts are covered. They have also experienced the making of Pop Art with use of collage by referring to artists’ work.

Mixed Media Painting Jan-Feb 2009

Tanjong Katong Girls' School (TKGS)

 

In this Mixed Media Painting Workshop, TKGS students were taught on the collaborative use of different media like dye, acrylic, Collage and scrap-materials.

It tapped on the nature of each medium and the creative inputs of students in forming their Mixed Media work.

 

They were also introduced to the context of Mixed Media and Abstract Art with reference to work by Jackson Pollock, Wassily Kandinsky, Thomas Yeo and

Goh Beng Kwan.

 

Elements of Art and Principles of Design were infused in the lessons to enable well-composed Mixed Media Paintings which could be abstract or semi-abstract.

Each student has produced 4 pieces of work of different styles with presentation of their ideas, techniques and reflections.

Drawing Essentials (ADM / Jan 09)

Temasek Design School

 

This subject introduces the basics of sketching and drawing techniques. Students will be handling basic media like pencil, charcoal, felt-pen and marker.

Subjects used for rendering would be:

1.                  Man-made object

2.                  Nature

3.                  Architecture

4.                  Human

 

Students will be taught drawing and sketching skills, elements of Art, perspective drawing and visual composition.

 Finalwork would be a well-composed piece with students' preferred subjects rendered in black/white media.

Mixed Media Drawing & Rendering (Oct - Dec 08)

First Media Design School (FMDS)
 
This module will expose students to various drawing and rendering techniques using mixed media.

Students will learn colour theory and experiment with various media to

communicate ideas and /or messages effectively. They will hone their observation

skills through a series of activities and projects.

 

Learning Outcomes:

1. Develop observational skills that will help communicate ideas and /

or messages effectively

2. Produce a series of work that demonstrate clear understanding of

colour schemes.

3. Produce a series of work that demonstrate drawing and rendering

skills in different media forms.

4. Show experimentation of various drawing and rendering styles in

their development of various ideas.

 

Final Assignment:

Students will have to produce a set of illustrations using mixed media for a series of posters on theme of Fort Canning Park.
